Sehr Kalt!!!! (VERY COLD!!!)

We have been in hibernation much of the week as it has been huddling around zero degrees here in Bamberg. You know it is bad when Bryan is cooking on the grill (outside) and between the time that he starts and finishes, the cup of water sitting beside the grill had begun to freeze over. Life still goes on though, even with these frigid temeratures. The city still bustles - including Bryan walking to work, and me walking the kids to the bus stop and Mia to school. This morning on the way to Mia's school - we were fascinated watching a tug boat crush through all of the ice that had formed on the river. The noise of the ice breaking was immense and intrigued Mia and I greatly. It is funny to be back in the cold temperatures again (it reminds me of growing up in Maine). As a kid, you enjoy all of the activity and unless you are standing still - you hardly notice the temperature. As I freak out when all of the kids jump in the snow with their regular shoes and pants on and then reach for a snowball with their bare hand - the kids are so resilient - it doesn't bother them one bit! I am just grateful that their is no wind to add to the bitter temperatures. It is certainly cozy inside and we will survive!!! Sehr Kalt!!!!
