Coburg

Yesterday we visited Coburg, Germany which is only about a 45 minute drive from here. We went to visit the Veste Coburg, which is one of the biggest castles in all of Germany. Veste is the German word for Fortress and with 3 walls surrounding it - a fortess it was! The construction of the castle began in 1225. It's most famous occupant was Martin Luther, when he spent 6 months there hiding out and working on his translation of the Bible into German! Camden enjoyed pretending that he was in the middle of a battle - notice him lying on the ground after the "defeat of Camden" :-)

It appears you all were the only visitors. Is that true? I suppose residents are like all people who live near places of interest; they take the places for granted.
How many castles are there in Germany? This one really looks interesting. Keep up the investigations. Camden looks so big in the picture. Love, Paula
