Trouble on the Water

Before we made it to Egypt, there was some adventure on the water. A man decided to jump overboard in the middle of the Mediteranian at Dusk. You really can't fall off of the ship, and we aren't quite sure if he jumped with his life preserver on, or if someone threw it to him, but as we were sitting on the 13th floor about to play a trivia game, we felt the ship turn quickly. Bryan looked out the window and saw that the wake of the ship had basically done a 180 degree turn. He knew something was wrong. I stayed inside, and Bryan went and watched the rescue (I actually didn't know that it was happening)The crew went into action, and miraculously this man was saved - it is not always the case. The crew did an incredible job, and this man was so lucky because the sun had just gone down, and without a flashing life preserver he never would have been found. Before this happened, some nights we would go out on one of the deck's and think about how scary it would be to watch the ship sail off if you were in the water. I don't think anyone slept very well that night - it was quite a chilling experience! Thankfully the man was reunited with his family and taken off the ship in Egypt (so we heard). In the photo you can see how small the rescue boat looks in comaprison to how high up we were, the man would have looked much smaller (obviosly) - not a good thing!

Well that was some excitement to write about..... If he had a life jacket on, he probably was drinking or needed some major attention. Can you imagine? Now I would not have minded a night-time dip in the sea but not from a ship. ha.... Thanks again for your great blogs. Waiting for the next one. gp
