Christmas Markets (Weinachten Markt)

It's that time of year again- I absolutely love it! Germany's Christmas Markets are in full swing, and the old cobblestone streets are bustling with Holiday Spirit. Bamberg has a permanent (lasts the entire Christmas Season) large Christmas market in the center of the city, and then there are a few "special" Christmas Markets that are held over a certain weekend in other areas of the city. We enjoyed both this weekend - the big one on Saturday, and the "special" one on Sunday. St. Nikolaus made an appearance, and handed out treat bags, music played, the kids made homemade puzzles (with wood), the gluhwein and kinder punsch stands - it is so quaint and lovely! The Season is definitely in full swing - the first advent candle is lit each morning when Mia walks into her school (no separation of church and state), the anticipation of St. Nikolaus' arrival on December 6th is building, candles in windows, baking cookies... - It is definitely a great feeling!!!
