Oxford English (aka. British English)
I never realized how many differences there were between American English and Oxford English. It is quite astonishing. We have lots of British Friends, My Brother lives in England, and my Nephew is British also, and I truly never realized the differences until recently. I already knew that many of the expressions are different, but had no idea how many simple words are different in the vocabulary. For example.... Bandaid = Plaster, ball point pen = Biro, elevator=lift, erasor=rubber, gas=petrol, our punctuation word for the word "period" = full stop, cookie=biscuit, and the list goes on and on. Helping Camden with his "English" homework has been quite comical, because the Germans study both Oxford English AND American English. Camden cracks me up trying to speak in an "English Accent" - so funny!

What a wonderful opportunity! It will be to the kids' advantage to learn so many languages. My French pen pal can speak and write in 5 languages.
If you want to give them some extra credit, at the end of chapter 3 in "Empire of Liberty" by Gordon Wood they talk about how Americans did this on purpose.
