My Aunt came to visit us this week, and we had a fun time showing her around our favorite places here. Since my kids were in school in the morning, it was nice to visit a few museums and get to take the time to really take it all in (we always get the abbreviated version when the kids are with us, which is great, but sometimes it is nice to take a little more time :-)). The 2 highlights for me, were the tour at the Fortress in Coburg, where Martin Luther hid out, and translated the bible for 6 months back in the early 1500's. It is amazing, because you can go in the room, where he stayed - not too shabby for a hiding place :-). We also went to the Documentation Center in Nuremburg, where they have the entire history of the Nazi Party/Hitler, and its presence in Nuremburg (including the Nuremburg Trials) - very sobering! Along with that, we also visited a few of our local Castles, ate very good food (not my cooking of course :-), and she experienced our daily life here (school, soccer practice, cheering, etc). It was a great visit - too short, but very nice!
