Camping

Last weekend we went on what has now become our annual camping trip with Camden's soccer club. Like so many other things, it is really a fun cultural experience for all of us. The campsite was a big field, with an out building that contains a kitchen and a picnic area. The yummy German meals are all cooked right there in the kitchen, and the kids run around all weekend with complete freedom, while the adults enjoy good conversation and outdoor recreational games. We joked that the recreational activities have now incorporated American style games too (corn-hole, and American football passing - it is especially cute to see people pass an American football for the first time). The campfire was tended around the clock by the kids that love fire (it was really funny, because it was the same kids who tended it last year). No marshmellow roasting went on, but instead we baked stock brot (stick bread) on the the fire -I even learned how to make the dough this year. It was a really nice time, and we are already looking forward to next year's camp out.
