Berlin

What little remains of the Berliner Mauer (Berlin Wall)...

We climbed a platform to get an idea of what it would be like to peer over to the East German side...

Me standing between the East and West Berlin Wall

Berlin has more Bridges than Venice and Amsterdam combined!

Old sign that reads - "We are one people"

The Dom (Cathedral)

The big white building is typical East German Archtecture

The Brandenburg Gate (or the Brandenburger Tor, as the German's would say) This is where Kennedy and Reagen famously made speeches...

Spiderman fell while swinging between buildings :-) ....Anything to make a few bucks :-)

The Reichstag - Germany's equivilent to our Capital Building

The ICE train (the fast one)

The red "Ampelmann" - very famous to Berlin

The green "Ampelmann" - very famous to Berlin

We went to see a show, and when we walked up the stairs, you ended up walking onto the stage through the refrigerator - a fun way to get peoples attention right from the start!

As always in Germany - people LOVE spending time outdoors!
I went, for a 40th Birthday Party, to Berlin last weekend. It is a beautiful city, rich in History. It's always hard to believe that just over 20 years ago, there was a wall that ran through the city separating the East and West. Bamberg is only about 45 minutes from the former East Germany. It was very interesting taking the train to Berlin (opposed to the Autobahn) because the train goes almost entirely through the former East German side - beautiful yet a little different than the the West. It was a fun weekend!
