The Skate Park

There is a "skate park" that we walk by frequently.... It is one of those places that mothers cringe about, but secretly enjoy watching the talented bikers and skateboards; jumping, doing wheelies, turning, and virtually-what looks to be-killing themselves...as long as it is not our own children. For two years, we would walk by, and observe all of the guys hanging out, and doing their tricks. Well, a few weeks ago my kids "caught the riding bug," and wouldn't you know, absolutely LOVE it! As scary as it is for me to watch, it is fun to see them being a little bit more daring with each visit. We don't have special "trick bikes", so the mountain bikes work out alright. Bailey is usually the only girl riding, and we are definitely the only parents watching. Shockingly though, most of the guys (who range from 9- 30 years old) are super nice, patient, and sometimes even interested as to why we speak English. It is one of those things that I never would have thought they would enjoy so much, but it is fun for all of us!
