September 11, 2010

Camden was due on September 11, 2000. We were supposed to be induced on September 11, but my water broke the afternoon before. He arrived at 11:57 pm (only 3 more minutes, and he would have had a sombering birthday for ever).
The next year on September 11, 2001, I remember getting ready to go to the gym to meet a friend to exercise, when my friend called to tell me to turn on the news. I remember that feeling of uncertainty and fear. I think I have been a news junky ever since - I think most Americans have.
This year, September 11, was a little different. Leading up to Saturday, was the uncertainty if that #$%^#@ pastor from florida was going to uproot all world peace (a little scary for us being overseas). Then there was Bryan's international flight (yes, September 11th, was the only flight available). Surely, that would be the safest day of the year to fly.... well tell that to Bryan after an ordeal where lets just say for 5 hours over the Atlantic he watched a guy in custody with 3 air marshals watching over him (it was a good thing the air marshals were on board). Lastly, but certainly not least, 4 young men stationed in Bamberg were killed in Afghanastan. They gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country! It all definitely makes you stop and think....

Seriously, we're SO GLAD that the outcome was as it was...and on 9/11 to top it all off. Thank God for the air marshalls !!
