Just like the Song goes, there are signs everywhere in Germany! It is truly amazing. You might pull up to an intersection and see 20 different signs that you have to understand and follow. The drivers test is quite tricky/different than that in the U.S. With that being said, I luckily did pass the test today. It was funny because Bryan has been my personal driving test "coach" for the past several days. He knows the rules like the back of his hand. I told him that he should quit his day job and become a German Driving Instructor :-) He had an extra incentive for me to pass the test - that of not having to be our chauffer day in and day out :-). I came out of the testing office with a sad face pretending to have flunked by 2 points - I thought Bryan was going to have a Heart Attack. Very Funny!!! I am officially able to drive now - even though I am a little leary of the whole thing.
Yesterday we went to a German Mall and had fun walking around. We had warned the kids before we left the U.S. about the fact that in Germany nudity is not a big thing at all (especially in regard to adverstising). I've tried to explain to them that it really is no big deal. So... what do you think Camden does when the first advertising of this kind appears before us? Of Course!!!! He drops on the floor in Histarics! We are still getting accustomed to things :-)
The biggest thing that is hard to get used to is the exchange rate. The Euro is so high compared to the dollar. We wanted to get 100 Euro out of the ATM and it cost $160!!!! When we were at the Mall, we went to a toy store and to give you an idea, the price of a Twister game was 28 Euro, which after the exchange into dollars is around $40! $40 Dollars for the game of Twister!!!! Needless to say, my love of shopping might be altered a little (O.K. a lot :-) The good thing is that we do have access to all of the Military PX's and Commisaries, so some things will actually be cheaper.
