| Some of the tents (including Camden's) didn't fare so well :-) |
Last weekend, we went on our annual camping trip with Camden's Fusball (Soccer) Club. It has truly become one of our favorite traditions. I am always in awe of how the hard work and planning of only a couple of people, creates serious summer memories for over 100 people. We basically camp in a huge field with a bath house and kitchen. The kids all slept in other tents with friends this year (even Mia wanted to stay with her friend). The food is provided, but everyone helps take turns in cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner. (you can imagine with over 100 people, there is a lot of food!). I love that there are no organized activities, no electronics, and no micromanaging. The kids just played, and as always, it was a great time! We did have a little extra excitement Saturday night (between 11:00 pm and 1:00am when a lightning storm and microburst came through - there is never a dull moment :-) Luckily everyone was still awake and had safe shelter under a hut and in cars. *As a side note I'm always still amazed at how everyone brings all of the necessary plates and
utensils, and washes them up themselves (it is often done like this over here, and saves an unbelievable amount of waste from paper and
plastic). The simplest, yet best idea ever!!!Memories to last a lifetime!!!
