While we have not even had a full inch of snow this year in Bamberg, just 45 minutes away on the Ochsenkopf Mountain, they have had quite a bit. Yesterday, we pulled out all of our ski gear and headed skiing for the day. The kids are still learning, and it is a perfect Mountain for beginners. It was super fun and easy (just a short trip away). It reminded me of going to Camden Snowbowl in Maine, back on snow days when school was canceled. We love the atmosphere of skiing in Germany. They have huts throughout the mountain, where you can have a snack or drink, and it is very family oriented. People bring their Dogs to the mountain, there are hills especially for sledding (you don't have to pay, just walk up to the top, and slide down). My only regret, is that we didn't know about it during Christmas Vacation!
