It is that time of year again, where 250,000 people filter into our little city that usually consists of only about 70,000 people. Like I have mentioned before each Church has a celebration (a Kerwa), but for some reason, a particular Church in the oldest section of town, brings record numbers of people to their celebratation. For 5 Days/Nights, the fest is in full swing. The true reality is that most of the people in attendence have no clue which church is even celebrating - they just come for delicous food, drinks, entertainment, and fun. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs (braueries) in town, but in order to accomodate the crowds, people even open up there personal garages and secret gardens in order to create themed "bier garten" type places. A whole "underground/backdoor" city is created. It is really a fun experience (especially if you know how to enjoy it without getting stuck in the middle of the crowds (to scoot around the huge crowds and people watch is quite entertaining).
