At 3:00 on Friday, the best place to be in the city of Bamberg is on top of the hill where St. Michael's Cathedral is located. Every Church Bell in Bamberg rings and the echoes can be heard from almost all of the 7 hills - it is such a serene and spiritual sound. The kids and I rode bikes up there last Friday and had a nice little picnic snack and listened to the sounds. One of the other neat things is that it used to be a Monestary where Monks lived and they would grow fuit trees. The Monks are no longer there, so the city allows people to pick what they want. We enjoyed the trek up the hill, stopping and picking plums and apples. We liked it so much that Bryan came back with us Sunday morning to pick some more (we figured too that our pickings would be better with the added height :-) It was also a great science experiment for the kids because we noticed that without all of the preservatives on the apples, they turn brown after you cut them -within seconds - we just leanred to eat them up quick! :-)

We expect Sunday afternoons such as this when we visit :)
Ahhh, the backdrop. What a great spot to set out a blanket.
You know I've never seen an apple tree in person. Island girl for sure.
