Traveling Children's Theatre

A traveling children's theatre group came to Mia's Kindergarten to help them put on a show. The theme was "Circus", and the the kids all "performed" in the circus. There was; a tiger exhibit, clowns, a balancing plate act, kids walked across "hot coals", and even had the old swords through the box trick (with a girl in the box). It was absolutely adorable, because it was geared for the Kindergartners to perform. Mia was a tiger, a plate balancer, and a cirque de soleil-type actress. The theatre practiced with the kids for a few days prior to the big performance. It was so fun to watch, and Mia LOVED being the center of attention for her family. So sweet!

Tell Mia I enjoyed the mini-performance very much. Oh to teach in a kindergarten school like that one!!!!! Just heard last week that we are going to move the children in small groups to other places (recess, more intervention, play center room) in order to have more directed instruction...... soooooo sad!!!! Test scores are all that matter in our system!!!!!! Little do they know about appropriate instruction and how children learn. The scores will more than likely go down. That's my opinion anyway. We have had a very rainy but nice weekend. The rain was a blessing. The pollen is so bad this year. Thanks for the wonderful blog. Hugs to everyone. gp
