Berlin!

This weekend we went to Berlin! Usually we try to find something "kid friendly" to do when we go places (ie. zoo, park etc), but even though this trip lacked any of that we had such a great time - even the kids! There is so much History in that city! We went to Checkpoint Charlie (the nickname for the crossing point that had to be used to go to and from West and East Berlin) , Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, The "White House" of Germany, Potsdamer Platz (the Time Square of Berlin), and of course what is remaining of the Berlin Wall. It was absolutely fascinating to think that up until 1989, this city was still divided. The kids were intrigued with the idea that if you lived in East Germany you could look over a wall and see Democracy and if you tried to get passed that wall, you would be killed. It was a true history lesson for all of us. Very Cool!
P.S. Rob and Courtnee and all you Georgia fans.... it was hillarious, because we saw a group of guys with Red and Black "Bulldog" Jersey's and were all excited. We got the nerve up to go up to them and they looked at us like we were crazy. They spoke very little English, but with a little German translation, it turns out Berlin has a "Football" (really soccer) team called the "Bull Dogs". Too Funny!
