St. Martin's Walk

"St. Martin" on his white horse

Lanterns everywhere

Mia and her friends

The entire route, people had lit candles on their window sills

A very special evening!
Bryan and I took Mia and her friend to the annual St. Martin's Day Lantern Walk. It is one of the coziest evenings of the year, beginning with a quick church service, then followed with children walking through the candle lit streets with their lanterns. "St. Martin," on his White horse leads the procession, followed by the children with their lanterns, followed by a Marching band in the rear playing music and singing songs all the while. At the end of the walk, the group met back at the church for a prayer, bread, and kinder punsch (the children's version of gluhwein). The kids then get to run around with all of their friends from school and kindergarten - it was a wonderful evening!
