Happy Reunification Day (and something that always makes me smile)

Yesterday was a German Holiday. Mia and I spent the day together while poor Bryan, Camden and Bailey had work and school. Reunification Day is the Day the Germans celebrate the reunification of East and West Germany. I've mentioned before that whenever there is a German holiday (which is quite often), everything completely shuts down. Schools, shops, grocery stores, banks, post office etc are ALL closed. The only thing that usually is open are the restaurants (so that families can go enjoy a meal together). With all of that said... One of the things we do each morning is bring the Newspaper up to our elderly neighbors who live on the 3rd floor (my Grandmom lived on the 3rd floor, and I always remember her being so grateful to her neighbors for bringing up the paper every so often). The thing that makes me smile, is that whenever there is a German Holiday, the newspaper will not be waiting for us to deliver to our upstairs neighbor. The reason, is that the Newspaper Employees also enjoyed the previous day off for the German Holiday. It isn't about the money, instead, it is about; time, families, reflection, rest. They just seem to "get" what life is all about! It always makes me smile!!!
