Nuremburg Christkindle Market

Yesterday we ventured to Nuremburg to visit one of the most famous Christmas Markets in the world. It is said to be the largest in Germany and millions of people flock to it each year to check it out. With over 180 booths to visit - it was fun meandering up and down the rows. They had an international section with booths from different countries. We were excited to see the one from Atlanta. It was funny because some of the items that they were selling (and people were actually buying) were quite entertaining: Peanut Butter was the big one with one big jar costing 19 Euro (which in translation is about $25 dollars!) I guess we are in the wrong business! Another highlight was the kinder market (childrens area). Like I always say, the liability issues here in Germany are non existent. It is very refreshing to be able to enjoy activities based on the fact that you will monitor your children and if they get hurt - it is your fault - not the fault of someone else. With that said, the kids got to etch glass mugs with an electronic etcher (very cool - I may have to go buy one) and dip candles in hot wax to create a truly beautiful multicolored candle. We have also had snow this week - so it was especially "Christmassy" with the cold temperature and snow to boot! The picture of Santa was taken a few weeks ago at the Bamberg Christmas Market. It was actually St. Nicklaus (not Santa) and he came out bearing real gifts for the children. It was fun to watch all of the excitement of the children!
